Are mentally ill people possessed by demons? Watchtower view.

i for one would not want to work with people with mental illness or depression just in case they were possessed by some of those pesky spirits.. .

It is a well known fact that demons are responsible for all problems in the world and out of it. Any problem that WT members have is always due to demon interference. Also all mental problems are due to a demon or more getting inside a persons head.

It is easy to prove this. There is a devil who is roaming the earth looking for trouble before he is tossed into the fiery furnace and the demons are fallen angels who have joined the baddie. It's all in the bible so it must be true.

By the way for those of you who haven't kept up; the bible is an ancient book that Christians used to base their faith upon until Jesus, now known as the word, visited them personaly and told them to believe the bits they want to and shred the rest.

the "prophetic" books of the bible contain lots of wild imagery and vague predictions.

for example, daniel describes various periods of 1260, 1290, 1335, and 2300 days.

revelation contains discussions of a variety of wild beasts, trumpet blasts, etc.

When they are short of material, they dig up an old interpretation, dust it off and shine some new light on it.

What else would they fill the millions of books and magazines they have printed, with? It is not just prophecy interpretations that get refurbished and sold as new.

They have the 'new understanding' magic trick on anything from voting or blood policy. Then there is the reinventing their history wheeze in books like The Divine Purpose.

For a group of frustrated old men they are amazing.

Not called the Memorial this year?

i just received my invitation to the memorial this year and noticed that the word memorial does not appear anywhere on the invitation.

it refers instead to the anniversary of jesus death.

is this a new thing, or is it always marketed as an anniversary rather than a memorial to unbelievers?.

I only attend these sort of gatherings if the invitation clearly states 'free wine tasting.'

a week or so ago i ran across a post asking what happens when we die.

i had meant to respond then, but got distracted and then could not find the post again.

But those who don't KNOW him... don't know this about the Most Holy One of Israel, JAH of Armies. Because of all the heinous LIES about Him in the OT... which the Jews used to scare their enemies... they think He's quick to anger, hateful, bloodthirsty.

AGuest, we already know that the bible is full of lies and that 'JAH of Armies' is a pacifist.

All Christians know that the word of god is no longer the bible but now refers to Jesus alone.

Thank you for reminding us of these 'new truths.'

I don't like it when you try to pick my friends

saturday morning my mother calls.

i missed the call cuz i had to take my oldest boy to the dentist but i promptly called my mother when i got back home.

we chatted for a while and she asked if i had made any friends.

a week or so ago i ran across a post asking what happens when we die.

i had meant to respond then, but got distracted and then could not find the post again.

I have taken away all uncertainty as to what will happen to me when I die. I have arranged to be cremated and my ashes scattered into a fast flowing river. That will be the end.

I would like to fix the date but my wife has endless holidays planned which I must survive to pay for, so my departure will have to take its natural course.

To those who are looking forward to floating around bodiless in an invisible realm, with nothing to do except pick your invisible, feeling-less noses, I ask this; have you ever seriously considered whether you actually want to spend eternity in limbo sucking up to the big daddy to avoid being snuffed out?

With Heavy Heart

sometimes we find a place and it feels like home, it is accepting and understanding.. then, sometimes, that place becomes cold and inhospitible.. when i first joined here i felt i have found a good place.. people like narkissos, leolaia and others impressed me with their knowledge of scripture and motivated me to learn more for myself.. others touched me with the stories of their pan and hurt, pain and hurt that i was feeling also.. i don't think i ever offended anyone with my views on christianity and if i have i sincerly apologise for that was not my intent.. but things change and sometimes home isn't home anymore.... this site had been invalable to me for my understanding what is wrong with the jw's relgion and the wt, it has strengthened my faith and belief.. here i found people of religon, faith and love.. here i found agnostics and athiest that challenged my views and made me question, they made me a believe via reason and not "blind faith".. for that, i thank all of you, especially the "jeff's" ( ak and alltime), i also say a special thanks to leavingthewt, many of his posts made me feel welcomed and made me think and be a better person.. chalam, bts, dd and so many others, i thank you from my heart for your kind words over these many months.. people like mary and sylvia and so many others filled my heart with love with their stories.. all the best to you my dear brothers and sisters.. .

It is a shame that you are not feeling welcome at present. You seem like a sensitive man, which is meant as a compliment.

It has to be said that you have jumped in with both feet recently and stirred up other posters by defending an emotive issue. We all get knocked around here occasionally. I used to post under my real name for many years but received a lot of abuse when I was mistaken for a trouble maker of the same name. Now I post wearing a helmet and armour and find I am less affected by hostile remarks.

What I am trying to say is that when you post on a public forum you have to be a bit thick skinned and not let people get to you.

I said to you earlier today, "Sometimes retreat is a good battle strategy." That was not a suggestion to leave the forum but to stop defending the subject that was causing some very strong comments to be directed at you.

Perhaps you should stay but adjust your approach to what you post and how you deal with criticism?

It is up to you what you do but your contribution here is of value to many people and all adds to the fun - it is meant to be fun!

Some very Intellectual or clever people make mistakes because they start out from a faulty premise.

To me personaly, there is no greater destroyer of intellect than substituting reason with faith. Most conclusions are in some way subjective but faith often requires the suspension of reason.

So I am drawn to posters that are logical, factual and arrive at points in a discussion that actually add up however closely they are scrutinised.

To someone else, a poster that can make sense of the Bible for them will get top marks. Having said that I would think that requires genius! (Sorry for the little dig, I just can't help it)

Who is the person that has helped me the most over many years?

To cut to the chase, my vote, unsurprisingly goes to Terry.
